Hare & Forbes is proud of its history, and over the last 95 years, we’ve supported plenty of Aussies. One of our more famous partnerships was teaming up with Allan Grice and Graeme Bailey for the 1986 Bathurst 1000. The eleventh-hour deal helped the privateer team compete. As we all know, they went on to win the race in convincing fashion against the mighty HDT Commodore team, spearheaded by Peter Brock and Allan Moffat.

Arguably the last privateer team victory of the James Hardie 1000 at Bathurst, the Hare & Forbes-sponsored Chickadee Commodore encapsulates the spirit of the great race.

To commemorate this great victory and awesome-looking racecar, we have released a limited run of 300 retro Hare & Forbes Workshop Machinery shirts, sporting the same logo, which was hand-painted onto the Commodore, back in 1986.
